Ethers Airport
The Ethers project reimagines Paphos International Airport through a visionary blend of form, function, and fluidity, creating a welcoming gateway to Cyprus. The design prioritizes spaciousness, natural light, and smooth passenger flow, incorporating large transparent façades that dissolve the boundaries between interior and exterior. The terminal layout embraces open-plan principles with expansive concourses, minimalistic material palettes, and refined structural elements to convey lightness and tranquility.
Key architectural interventions include a sweeping roof structure supported by sculptural, branched columns, introducing a sense of lift and openness to the arrival and departure spaces. A seamless integration of local flora and transparent glazing offers passengers a visual connection to the Mediterranean landscape and climate, fostering an atmosphere of calm amidst the bustling transit.
Inside, the use of natural light is maximized through large curtain walls, filtering through lush green spaces, while clean lines and soft, neutral finishes in public waiting areas enhance the serenity and sophistication of the terminal experience. The gates, lounges, and check-in areas prioritize spatial efficiency and intuitive navigation, simplifying the journey for travelers while celebrating the island’s unique character through material choices that evoke Cyprus’ coastal environment.
